Kansas may be a landlocked state, but for two hours on Monday night there was prime beachfront property in Bonner Springs. Surfer-songwriter Jack Johnson brought a mellow vibe that matched the cooler weather and gentle breeze. Is the big oil spill old news by now? Not to Jack Johnson. It’s still a talking point. “I get in the water every day, I surg as much as I can, I have three kids, so when we get a moment we’re in there - I feel like I use it so much that I have a responsibility to be a steward of the ocean,” said Johnson, who recently donated $70,000 to relief efforts in the Gulf of Mexico region. “There’s going to be a lasting effect on that area, with wildlife and families and the water itself.”
