Tabbed as a “mellow rocker” by perhaps one too many publications, the chart-topping singer-songwriter has a fire within that belies his laid-back manner—a fire that extends to his company, Brushfire Records, and his environmental activism ...

Jack Tour, Zach Gill’s Stuff, Neil Halstead’s Oh! Mighty Engine ...

Jul 29, 2008

Well the Jack Johnson “Sleep Through The Static” tour has just returned home from Europe and even though massive storms were chasing them throughout the tour, the rain didn’t dampen the spirits of everyone that turned out (except for everyone that tried to put on, or attend the Saturday gig in Newquay where Gale force winds forced a cancellation). In the end, the crazy weather helped make for some unforgettable shows. So now everyone will enjoy some downtime until they head back out to wrap up the summer with a tour of the States and a few Canadian shows for what looks to be the last live shows of 2008.

Jack will be bringing along a new set of openers on this leg. His friends and label-mates Rogue Wave are support for the whole tour. Neil Halstead will be out from 8/3 to 8/19 and The Culver City Dub Collective featuring Paula Fuga who will takeover duties from 8/20 on. Rogue Wave is supporting the release of Asleep at Heavens Gate.

Your encouraged to try and carpool to the shows, you can find other folks to share a ride with. If you click on the show detail page for your show at www.jackjohnsonmusic.com/tour you can find folks to carpool with.

Just look for the carpool symbol. Make sure your crew gets to the shows early so you guys can stop by the village green where you can get informed and educated on global and local environmental activities. Get your village green passport, take some environmental actions and you can enter to win a spot to watch Jack’s performance FROM THE STAGE!

While visiting the village green you just might also catch an intimate live performance from Jack’s supporting artists or maybe even Jack himself. You might see Zach Gill or Neil Halstead out there, both of whom will have records out on Brushfire on July 29th that were recorded at Jack’s Solar Powered Plastic Plant.

Zach Gill’s Stuff can be pre-ordered here.  The album features guest appearances by Steve Adams from ALO, Tristan Prettyman, Merlo and Adam. Jack even did his best Keith Moon impersonation sitting behind the kit for the albums first single “Family”. For more info check out www.zachgill.com.

Neil Halstead’s “Oh! Mighty Engine” can be pre-ordered here. If you listen closely, you can hear the stellar work of Adam Topol, Merlo Podlewski and Zach Gill on a few tracks.Neil will be playing his own west coast dates in late August and you can find out more here: www.myspace.com/neilhalsteadofficial.

Message from Jack - Cancelled Newquay

Jul 05, 2008

hello everyone.  I am looking out of a hotel window at a stormy ocean in newquay.
the show today was cancelled due to weather.  the saftey commission made the call
earlier today that the site was unsafe for a show tonight due to extreme weather conditions.
unfortunately the strength of the site was also its weakness.  the venue is located on top of
hill that overlooks the ocean. but this location also made the stage very exposed to the high winds.
this is the first show we have ever had cancelled on us.  we share in the disappointment with
all those who were planning on seeing the show tonight and we are hoping for better weather tomorrow.
i will see you in the surf or at the show.

Jack Johnson concert July 5 in Newquay cancelled

Jul 05, 2008

Jack is very sorry to announce the cancellation of today’s performance at Newquay due to extreme weather conditions. On-site health and safety officers made the decision to cancel the show following sustained periods of high wind. To continue with the concert would have endangered the artists, workers and fans on-site.
Please go to point of purchase for refund.’
Ticket Master will auto-refund so their customers will have their money this week without having to take any action.

At this time tomorrow’s show will proceed as planned.

Please check back for further updates.
