Jack Johnson wasn’t planning to release an album this year, and with good reason. His father died of cancer last August and just a month later, Johnson, 35, and his wife, Kim, had their third child (a girl). “But all these songs just came out,” Johnson says, “It felt like it was time.”

The soundtrack was put together by Emmett Malloy, and also features new music from Ugly Casanova (with Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse), James Mercer (The Shins, Broken Bells), and Mason Jennings. You can preorder it from the Brushfire Records online store or request it at your local music retailer. It will be available June 22nd.
