We met some amazing non-profit partners throughout the tour of South America, all doing incredible work in their own communities! They came to the shows to engage with fans and promote their local programs. Several partners hosted community beach clean-up events in association with Jack's All At Once Community which made a huge impact in cleaning their coastlines and raising awareness about reducing plastic waste!
On Jack’s first day in Peru, he joined Conservamos por Naturaleza and Life out of Plastic as part of the HAZla por tu playa beach clean-up weekend. The event engaged over 2500 volunteers who removed over 20 tons of garbage from 123 coastal beaches and Amazonian rivers! In Brazil, Ecosurfi hosted “All At Once Brazil 2014” a volunteer beach clean-up on the São Paulo coast with over 130 volunteers collecting more than 700 pounds of trash. In Florianópolis, Aragua Oscip organized a clean-up after Carnival, with 200 volunteers removing over 600 pounds of trash!
While in Rio, Jack joined kids from the Rocinha Surf School and All At Once Non-Profit Partners, participating in a native restoration and beach clean-up day. The event was a collaboration between Surfrider Brazil, Instituto E, Salvemos São Conrado, and the Rocinha Surf School and helped to raise awareness about the importance of water quality and clean coastlines in Brazil.
On March 22, over 1200 volunteers throughout Chile participated in the “Unidos por Aguas Limpias” (United for Clean Water) event coordinated by Save the Waves Coalition with support from Chilean partner Maule Itata Coastkeeper. 12,000 pounds of trash and plastic was removed over 30 miles of coastline!
Many groups shared event photos as part of the Capture Your Commitment campaign promoting plastic free initiatives and sustainable local food systems. Check out their twitter and instagram posts as well as view environmental commitments made by fans in each country!
