Hokulea’s 40th Birthday!

March 10, 2015

Hōkūleʻa, the iconic deep-sea voyaging canoe of the Polynesian Voyaging Society (PVS) just celebrated her 40th birthday on March 8! The master navigators on board use the stars, waves, wind, and birds to find their way. PVS has journeyed more than 150,000 miles over the past 40 years, and a new generation of navigators is sailing around the world to explore how to care for our oceans and this island earth. To help support their voyage, we have teamed up with Rallysong to raise funds with a new single “Na Ho‘okele Opoipio (The Young Navigators)” written by Chucky Boy Chock featuring Jack Johnson and Paula Fuga.

The song was recorded in honor of Hōkūlea and her voyage to Mālama Honua (care for our earth) and all proceeds from the Rallysong campaign will support the Worldwide Voyage.  Help celebrate, and help keep Hōkūleʻa sailing for future generations! When you make a donation on Rallysong you get a free download of the new song and can purchase other collector’s items for sale! You can also enter the raffle for a chance to win an ukulele autographed by Jack Johnson and a Papa He‘e Nalu (small wood surfboard), crafted with mahagony wood from the deckboards of Hōkūleʻa.

Download the song, and join us to help fund her voyage around the world!
