JACK AND FRIENDS KICK OFF TOUR IN AUSTRALIA!
March 15, 2008
Jack Johnson's Sleep Through The Static World Tour kicked off this week in Australia. At the Sydney show on Saturday night, 27,236 people gathered in a beautiful tree lined meadow in Centennial Park to listen to Jack and his Brushfire friends, G. Love & Special Sauce and Matt Costa as well as Australian local boys Will Conner and Dave Rastavich. Aboriginal and Maori dancers performed a special "Welcome to Country" ceremony just before Jack’s set.
Sydney concertgoers were the first to see the new All At Once Village Green in full effect. Over 6,000 people participated and just under 1,000 completed their All At Once Village Green Passports. Fans received stamps for a variety of actions including: carpooling or taking mass transit to the show, utilizing the water and recycling stations on site, and visiting or donating to one of the several local non-profits groups at the Village Green. Concertgoers who turned in a completed passport were entered to win a chance to watch the show from the best seat in the house….the STAGE! Chelsea and Haley were the winners in Sydney and as you can see they were very happy.
Another show highlight was a kick ball contest between Jack, Merlo, Adam, and Zach. After sad showings from Jack and Zach, Merlo beat out Adam by the length of 10 Sydney punters.
