Celebrate Farm to School Month this October!
October is National Farm to School Month, a time to celebrate connections happening all over the country between schools, farms and local food! Farm to school enriches the connections communities have with fresh, healthy food and local food producers by changing food purchasing and education practices at schools. This October, get involved, be inspired and take action to advance farm to school in your community!
Jack is co-founder of the Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation and an active volunteer with their ʻĀINA In Schools program, a farm to school initiative that connects children to their land, waters, and food to grow a healthier Hawaiʻi. Building garden beds, composting, planting native and edible plants, and harvesting alongside students, is one of Jack’s favorite ways to support healthy local food and garden-based learning in his community. Learn more about National Farm to School Month, find ways to get involved, and sign the Take Action pledge to win a package of farm to school prizes by visiting the National Farm to School Network’s website at farmtoschool.org.
