Japan Dates Cancelled
Apr 15, 2011The remaining dates of Jack Johnson’s To The Sea tour of Japan have been cancelled. While traveling in Japan as part of the tour, Jack, the band and crew were in Osaka when the earthquake struck on March 11, 2011. The dates were originally postponed after the Earthquake, but because the To The Sea tour is scheduled to be in South America and Europe throughout the summer, the decision has been made to cancel the remaining Japan tour dates. Shows affected are Zepp Sendai, Budokan, Zepp Fukuoka and Studio Coast Tokyo. Refunds will be made at the original point of purchase from April 22nd to May 31st.
Several days after the Earthquake hit, Jack announced a donation of $50,000 to GlobalGiving’s Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund to help residents of the affected areas. Jack also participated in the Kokua For Japan concert this past weekend in Honolulu, Hawaii, which helped raise $1.6 million to benefit the American Red Cross for the Japan earthquake and Pacific tsunami relief efforts.
The band hopes to be back to Japan soon to reunite with friends and play more music.
